Jacob MacKay has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States, Europe and the Middle East. He has participated in the 2014 Palestine Sacred Music Festival, the 2015 Festival International de Musique de Chambre in France and the 2016 Ramallah Orchestra Tour in Israel and Palestine. In 2016, Jacob graduated Summa Cum Laude from Brandeis University, receiving highest honors in Music. At Brandeis he was a Leonard Bernstein Music Fellow.

Since 1969, the internationally acclaimed vocal sextet The Western Wind has devoted itself to the special beauty and variety of a cappella music. The Ensemble’s repertoire reveals its diverse background – from Renaissance motets to Fifties rock ’n’ roll, from medieval carols to Duke Ellington, from complex works by avant-garde composers to the simplest folk melodies. This is their second Impromptu appearance .

The identical twins Peter and Zoltán Katona were born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1968, and began their musical education at the age of ten. As the Katona Twins they’ve put out nine CDs so far, covering a wide spectrum of music ranging from Mozart, Bach, and Scarlatti, to Queen, the Doors, and the Beatles They have deservedly become among the classical guitar world’s musical “must see” performers. They have been called “A symphony for two, Twin Peaks of Classical Music.”

Jose Franch-Ballester, clarinet; Michael Brown, piano The New York Times has declared Michael Brown “a young piano visionary,” praising him for ““a magnificent performance” and a “powerful technique and a vivid imagination.” The multi-award-winning Spanish clarinetist José Franch-Ballester is considered one of the best classical soloists and chamber music artists of his generation. This collaboration will feature Leonard Bernstein’s Sonata for Clarinet and Piano. Written in Key West in 1941, this Sonata is one of Bernstein’s first published pieces of music.

A performance of Bernstein’s CONCH TOWN, an unfinished ballet written during Leonard Bernstein’s first stay in Key West. The piano four hand version, recently discovered, will be performed with a discussion of how CONCH TOWN was the foundation of so much music that Bernstein wrote throughout his career followed by several people who knew Lenny sharing personal remembrances.
